The son of our late beloved King Edward VII. will be crowned as King George V. to-day.

For over 1,200 years the Kings and Queens of England have followed each other with only one

short interruption of 11 years, and probably there is no country in the world where loyalty to the Throne is more deeply seated in the hearts of the people than in the British Empire. The

Empire over which the King of Great Britain rules has steadily increased in size and wealth from year to year, and at the present day about one quarter of the human race and one quarter of the

habitable area of the Earth are included under his rule. The Crown which is to-day to be placed

upon

his head is the symbol of the unity of this Empire. Every race and creed is included and every Colony is loyal to the Throne and to the Traditions of the British Empire, because they stand for Liberty and Justice.

These few words I have addressed to all the children in the Colony, but to those among

you who share with me the privilege of being British subjects I desire to say a few special words.

The future of the Empire lies with you-whether it shall stand or fall, whether it shall prosper or fail, whether it shall continue to carry out those traditions of which I have spoken or not--all this lies with you. However great the Empire created by the past and present generation, however glorious its ideals, they will perish unless the children of to-day learn the lesson of Patriotism and self-sacrifice and are ready to serve the Empire. "Ich dien," "I serve," is the motto of the King's eldest son who, when King George has been crowned, is to be installed as Prince of Wales. He like you is the representative of the coming generation; let his motto be yours. "I serve"~

my God and Country.

All Children ought to love reverence and be loyal to the Ruler who is set over them. It is under his wise care and protection that they live in safety and comfort. He is the head

of the national family as your father is the head of your own family, and to-day, all over the

British Empire, the children ought to unite in saying with one voice,

God Save the King.
